My daughter and her cousin just returned from Portland, and she said she loved it. She found other blacks there one who moved from the Bronx to Portland! They had white room mates, who she said were very welcoming and friendly. She wants to go back. They are everywhere in Portland, sadly. I went there once and hated everything about it. So I personally would have rain and mildness then lots of snow and cold.

And as far as heat, you get some serious heat waves in NYC. Jacked up rent and housing prices is all too real in the NYC. Much luck to you in the NYC!

Utah has sunny winters but cold! I just saw your blog. I prefer mild seasons. I know my dog would not be happy either. I thank you for helping me make my decision of not moving to Portland. Where oh where should I go! I feel like the people used to that much rain are the ones that grew up in the PNW.

On the entertainment front, it has everything that you would ever need to send boredom packing. Downtown Portland offers residents and visitors a chance to enjoy a beautiful sunset that allows the mind to wander and relax. Hawthorne Asylum: One of the most recently-opened food truck pods in the city, as the name implies, Hawthorne Asylum sits on what used to be the grounds of a mental hospital. But unlike the name implies, the food is far from creepy. There is an awning, a communal fireplace, and a covered area, making this a good choice to grab a bite any time of the year.

Our recommendation: We liked the chicken and potato curry from the Guyanese stand. The owner is very nice and was offering multiple! Cartlandia: More than 30 different carts serving up cuisines from all over the world! Pine Street Market: While not a food truck pod, this indoor food court gives you the variety that food trucks do without having to brave being outdoors on a rainy day.

When the city was going through modern construction, they started to remove these rings only to be met with public outrage. There is now a law that if you build a new sidewalk, the original rings must be put back in place once the job is done.
